2009 key achievements -
Altona Meadows Ward
· Open space improvements including the completion of the next
stage of the Laverton Creek Trail, beautification works at Laverton
Park, Altona Meadows and upgrades to Truganina Park, Altona Meadows.
· Landscaping and the installation of a public artwork on the
corner of Queen and Merton Streets, Altona Meadows.
· Installation of an air conditioning system at the Altona
Meadows Community Centre.
· Construction of a footpath in GF Stirling Reserve between
Victoria Street and Laughton Court, Altona Meadows.
· Speed cushions to be installed along the western side of
Victoria Street, south of Queen Street, and in Everingham Road, and
commencement of a local area traffic management study in Altona Meadows.
City Wide Projects
· Redevelopment of the former EPA site in Queen Street for
use as a community meeting space.
· Footpath upgrades in Pier Street, Altona.
· Planning for future streetscape improvements in Brooklyn
including enhancements to the Geelong Road, Brooklyn shopping strip.
· Redevelopment of the Langshaw Reserve pavilion, Altona North.
· Preparation of detailed designs for the Laverton Community
Hub, to be located between Crown and Donald Streets, Laverton.
· Footpath construction in Laverton in streets that do not
have footpaths.
· Renewal works at the shopping centres in The Circle, Altona
North and Vernon Street, South Kingsville.
· Resheeting of the BayFit Leisure Centre car park and installation
of additional lighting.
· Upgrades to the Range Children’s Centre, Williamstown
North.
· Redevelopment of the Williamstown Cricket Ground Pavilion.
